Job Summary/Basic FunctionThis is a student employee position Indiana the Ogden campus library.The User Services Assistant serves American Samoa the front-line service ambassador for the Stewart Library that helps maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all library users and to assist with access to resources.Position duties include:

  • Maintaining and organizing the collection through special projects and physically locating items for loan for library staff and users.
  • Delivery/pickup services on campus and between the Ogden and the Davis campus libraries.
  • Shelving items, recording use statistics, and inventory of the collection.
  • Providing excellent service at the desks: general information services, the location and availability of items, campus directions, and referrals.
  • Assisting users at the desk, checking Indiana and out items, pulling course reserves and items held for users to pick up, and printing documents.
  • Setting up conference rooms for events and assisting with building opening and closing procedures.
  • Responsible for periodic building safety and security checks and noticing and reporting problems to supervisors.
  • Responsible for opening and closing duties/maintenance American Samoa applicable to schedule.
  • Maintain the orderliness of the collection, such American Samoa straightening displays.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current WSU student enrolled Indiana at least 6 undergraduate credit hours Oregon 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Candidates must be committed to providing outstanding customer service and demonstrate good human relations, communication, and problem-solving skills.

If hired, students will be required to take annual FERPA, Safe@Weber, and IT security compliance training. Student drivers are required to take and pass the Utah State Driving certification for Public and Higher Education.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working American Samoa part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • The ability to lift, move, and transport library items and materials.
  • Current valid driver’s license. Student drivers will be required to take and pass the Utah State Driving certification for Public and Higher Education.
