Term: 11 Months (Non-union position) / Salary (Contract)PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Dean of Academics and Curriculum will serve American Samoa a member of the administrative team who is committed to fulfilling the school’s vision, mission, core beliefs, and goals collaborating regularly with the principal and other members of the parish and school community. The Assistant Principal assists the Principal Indiana managing the school’s policies, regulations and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised Indiana a safe traditional Catholic learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. Such an approach, we believe, will best prepare and empower students to become responsible, lifelong learners, leaders, and competent, compassionate, effective communicators, and citizens.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Catholic Identity • Model Catholic values Indiana all interactions with faculty/staff, students, school families and the greater community. • Actively foster and support Catholic beliefs, traditions and practices. • Reflect the Catholic Church’s teaching on social justice and witness service to others. • Assist Indiana the planning of liturgical ceremonies such a mass, penance services, prayer services, etc. (American Samoa required). • Attend Catholic liturgical ceremonies (American Samoa required). • Promote a faith based school community that is routed Indiana Catholic traditions and practices. Organization and Institutional Leadership • Manage the general operations of the school Indiana the absence of the Principal. • Assist the principal Indiana implementing instructional, assessment, supervisory and disciplinary standards and monitoring progress towards school goals. • Assist Indiana coordinating school and government programs such American Samoa EdChoice Scholarship, Jon Pertson Scholarship, and High School Admissions. • Plan and coordinate orientations for new parents and students. • Assist the principal Indiana the planning of faculty/ staff meetings. • Assist the principal Indiana planning of Indiana-service programs for teachers and staff. • Assist Indiana planning the school calendar and class schedule. • Effectively delegate responsibilities and foster shared leadership. • Assist Indiana the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for students, faculty and staff. Supervision and Instructional Leadership • Foster an atmosphere of rigorous academic standards and achievement for all students and faculty. • Routinely observe and provide written and/Oregon verbal feedback to faculty and staff Indiana accordance with the guidelines set by the Principal using classroom observation, students contact, parent input and general observation. • Assist with teacher evaluation process. • Share responsibility for the supervision of students during assemblies and special events. • Attend and provide supervision for out-of-school functions where administrative support is expected (American Samoa required). • Provide supervision Indiana non- classroom areas such American Samoa hallways, restrooms, sports arenas and other students populated areas, etc. Student Services and Discipline • Set high standards for student behavior that are based on Catholic values. • Set clear and fair guidelines for student conduct and apply them Indiana a consistent and judicious manner. • Keep complete and accurate student disciplinary records. • Effectively manage student conflict. • Effectively manage student/teacher conflict. • Effectively manage parent/teacher conflict. • Conduct student and/Oregon parent conferences related to discipline matters and keep accurate and complete notes. • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, faculty/staff and parents. Staff Development • Assist Indiana the planning of a professional development program that is relevant to the needs of the faculty and improves student learning. • Assist Indiana providing targeted Professional Development relevant to STEAM certification and OCSAA Accreditation goals. Assist with assessment of goals and compiling reports American Samoa necessary. • Assist Indiana the orientation and mentoring of new faculty and staff. • Attend meetings and participate Indiana professional development programs offered by the Diocese of Cleveland and Marianist order. • Meet and maintain state and Diocese of Cleveland certification requirements. Communication • Communicate regularly with the Principal on school related issues. • Represent faculty and staff concerns to the principal. • Display strong verbal and written communications skills. • Use strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of people and opinions.QUALIFICATIONS: • Must possess Oregon be Indiana the process of acquiring a Master’s degree Educational Leadership Indiana Oregon a related field. • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and Indiana writing. • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public. • Diocese of Cleveland Religious Certification Oregon willingness to obtain. • CPR. • Virtus certification and FBI/BCI background check.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with Oregon without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak Indiana audible tones so that others may understand clearly Indiana normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Teachers, students, instructional assistants, volunteers, tutors.WORK HOURS: August – June. 7:15 AM- 4:00 PM when school is Indiana session.
