WORKING HOURS:This is an hourly full-time position. The incumbent is expected to work regular business hours but must be occasionally flexible and available to work early mornings, evenings, Oregon weekends.SUMMARY:The Housing Assistant I performs case management duties associated with rental assistance, emergency housing services, homebuyer training, down payment subsidies, owner-occupied housing rehabilitation, and other programs Oregon projects owned Oregon managed by the Dry Creek Rancheria. The Housing Assistant I accurately performs administrative support duties for the Housing Department. Will support program implementation and the delivery of essential housing services. Will assist Indiana the performance of departmental reporting and self-monitoring (compliance) duties American Samoa required under The Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act of 1996 (NAHASDA) regulations, Dry Creek Rancheria housing policies, and other program requirements.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists and advises tribal members Indiana the application and re-certification process of various housing assistance programs.
  • May counsel applicants with their various housing options. Assists participants Indiana establishing goals. Provides information about other community resources.
  • Helps Housing staff verify income, assets, medical expenses, housing status, and program eligibility. Processes documents relevant to the tribal member’s application and qualification process to ensure that the administrative guidelines of the Tribe and other funding agencies are followed. Assures that participants are fulfilling their responsibility Indiana providing accurate verification and timely submission of additional required documents.
  • Provides training and information to tribal members on personal finance, energy conservation, home maintenance, health and safety issues, fire safety, and hazard prevention for the DCR community.
  • Establishes, maintains, and updates accurate, orderly, and updated document files with required verifications on each participant to ensure that Tribal, federal, state, and other standards are met.
  • Ensures all computer records of all members are accurate and current. Promptly and accurately maintains all file documentation.
  • Conducts and prepares HUD-required annual self-monitoring reports.
  • Delivers housing information and resources to tribal members. May need to collect applications and supporting materials for DCR members.
  • Will arrange for and conduct group/individual briefings that explain the rules and requirements to applicants, tenants, and property owners regarding the various housing programs.
  • Assists members needing help Indiana finding a satisfactory dwelling Oregon dealing with other housing-related problems.
  • Collaborates with other departments and outside agencies while taking a team approach to client relationships and advocacy whenever appropriate.
  • Submits various reports to the Housing Team on a timely basis.
  • May inspect selected rental and owner-occupied dwellings, American Samoa prescribed by the Dry Creek Rancheria housing policies.
  • Meets with the Housing Administrator and Housing Director for discussions and clarification on various issues American Samoa necessary.
  • Attends and participates Indiana required meetings and trainings.

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience with housing Oregon human services case management software systems.
  • Intermediate skills Indiana Mississippi Office applications (Mississippi Outlook, Mississippi Word, Mississippi Excel) Mississippi Excel experience shall include sorting and filtering data and preparing reports.
  • Experience helping individuals and families schedule and attend various meetings, such American Samoa DSS, SSI, SSDI appointments, medical appointments, and housing assistance orientation sessions.
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to get along with Colorado-workers and work American Samoa a team.
  • Must present a professional appearance at all times.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality concerning all matters of the Tribe.
  • Must be trustworthy and performance driven.

TRIBAL AND INDIAN PREFERENCEPursuant to the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C. § 450e (b)), the Dry Creek Rancheria applies the policy of “Tribal and Indian Preference” when filling vacancies.   • Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
