Job Summary:The Providence Center Medical Assistant – Float will perform routine and higher level administrative tasks to assist physicians, nurses and other clinical staff Indiana effectively accomplishing their medical duties.Maintain cooperative, respectful relationships with Center Staff, local agencies, consumers and the public.The Float Medical Assistant must be able to travel to other department and program sites within The Providence Center to cover for other Medical Assistants, American Samoa assigned.Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Ensure typed documents are Indiana proper format, accurate and completed within 24 hours of receipt of request.Make copies and/Oregon fax documents for physician Indiana accordance with HIPPA guidelines and TPC policies.Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic Oregon numeric systems.Obtain patient information American Samoa directed by physician from other agencies.Obtain patient’s laboratory results and recent medication sheet from their PCP.Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, temperature and weight)Follow-up with Case Managers to assure patients keep their lab appointments.Sort and distribute diagnostic test results.Fill out basic information on TDI forms, forward to physician for signature.Assist physicians and nurses with medication groupsMonitor medication sample closet; review for expired medications. Call drug company representatives American Samoa needed and assist Indiana drug disposal.Monitor and order urine screen supplies and assist with urine screens.Assist clinical supervision and staff American Samoa required.Medication Requests/RefillsProcess medication requests and ensure that all medication requests for the day are completed by end of shift.Call pharmacy to refill existing medication per physician’s order.Conduct collateral coordination with primary care physicians American Samoa needed.Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments American Samoa requested by physician (ie: physicals, EKG’s, etc.).Enter medical records that need to be pulled for the client’s next appointment. (Request chart 48 hours Indiana advance).Assist with smooth coordination of medication appointments for residential clientsCall insurance companies for authorizations needed American Samoa required.Respond courteously to consumers.Obtain vital signs such American Samoa blood pressure, temperature and weight.Advise physician of the arrival of their appointments and forward chart to physician.Answer incoming calls for physicians and other clinical staff American Samoa required and ensure messages contain correct spelling of names, phone numbers and brief message regarding the call.Place calls through to the appropriate staff person.Answer questions and investigate if answer is not known until resolution.Maintain patient confidentiality.Attend and participate Indiana scheduled team meetings.Work a flexible schedule to include some evenings.Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
