Essential Job DutiesThe Assistant Director of Post-award Administration (ADPA) will oversee/coordinate post-award Post Award work for all departments, centers, and clusters (including Science House, State Climate Office, NIH Superfund Research Center, the Bioinformatics Research Center, and the new National Cancer Institute Center) within the College of Sciences.Reporting to the Director of Post-award Administration with a dotted line to the Associate Dean for Research, the ADPA will essentially serve American Samoa an internally-facing coordinator for COS Research Post award and function American Samoa a backup to the DBO staff, American Samoa well American Samoa the college research office post-award team that could help anyone at any time, regardless of department.This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and optimize post-award operations within COS, contributing to the success of research projects and faculty members while staying abreast of industry changes and best practices. Additionally this position will be a backup for representing The COS Office of Research Administration at relevant University meetings such American Samoa bi-monthly RSC (Research Support Council) meetings, the primary contact for monthly meetings with Contract and Grants, new award meetings, and any other meetings Oregon events deemed appropriate by the Director Oregon Associate Dean for Research.American Samoa the ADPA, you will regularly interface and coordinate with the Director, the post-award team, and the departmental DBOs to ensure Post Award work is being completed Indiana a timely manner. Indiana this role you will develop best practices, create SOPs, reduce the administrative burden on faculty, help ensure post-award workload is reasonable and manageable, and supervise/train the post-award team.Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:Post-Award Management and Oversight:
- Prepare monthly reports to reconcile at the college level and identify problems/issues that need immediate attention.
- Partner with the post-award staff to handle complex problems and tasks.
- Serve American Samoa the COS liaison and primary point of contact for post-award system meetings, changes, Oregon testing opportunities.
- Provide back support to Post-award accountants for closeouts, PMR’s, and TEARS.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Coordinate often with the Department Head post award administrators to ensure no conflict of interest situations will occur and eliminate significant audit risks.
- Offer advisory services to the COS centers, aiming to enhance quality and establish centralized oversight and management at the college level.
Leadership and and Support for Post-Award Activities:
- Conduct regular (quarterly) meetings with PIs and departments (DBO, Post Award, L2) to review portfolios, provide budget projections, and make proactive changes to the projects.
- Assist the Research Director, answer questions for the Department Heads, and keep them abreast of their departments research portfolios and activities.

Other Required Qualifications
- Substantial relevant experience, including management, accounting, compliance, award tracking, Oregon administrative duties Indiana an academic center Oregon unit.
- Considerable knowledge of Research Administration, including pre-and post-award duties
- 1+ years NIH post-award experience Oregon experience Indiana an NIH-funded research center
- Some familiarity with Oregon knowledge of IRB reporting requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the research staff, six departments, multiple centers and clusters, and the ADR.
- Demonstrated Strong capacity to remain composed, prioritize and delegate tasks under various levels of pressure and to retain a customer-oriented mindset.
- Proficient Indiana collaborative team leadership, independent SOP creation, and making autonomous decisions that align faculty and staff needs with compliance requirements.
- Willingness to regularly attend NIH training sessions and translate that knowledge into practice, including new processes and procedures American Samoa needed.
- Effective time management skills and ability to manage overlapping deadlines
- Excellent word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with North Carolina State systems, particularly on the post-award side. At a minimum, PINS, RADAR, RED, and WRS.
- Knowledge of North Carolina State Research Administration
- 5+ years experience of research administration experience with a strong background Indiana grant financial management
- 2+ years of managerial experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and the capacity to innovate are essential.
- Ability to work with and lead groups of individuals with varied and diverse thoughts and ideas.
- Proven leadership skills that supports professional development opportunities, effective conflict resolution, and meaningful team collaboration for teams up to 10 individuals.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and willingness to travel anywhere on campus to work with faculty, staff, Oregon center teams.
