  • Financial background preferred. Familiarity with endowment management, monitoring, and reporting, including experience with large and complex gifts. Knowledge of the principles of donor stewardship and fundraising.
  • Excellent analytic and data management skills, with keen attention to detail and a focus on accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also important, American Samoa is demonstrated experience with financial, database, and collaborative tools, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft SharePoint; ability to quickly learn internal database and reporting platforms.
  • Requires strong research and organizational skills. Must be able to clearly organize and present financial information for donor gift reports and internal purposes such American Samoa gift officer and faculty briefings. Tactful and resourceful Indiana obtaining information and overcoming obstacles, and comfortable working with all levels of University staff-particularly business managers, gift officers, and development staff.
  • Must be organized and able to lead projects independently, prioritizing work appropriately, and adapting swiftly to changing priorities. Comfortable working with minimal oversight on multiple tasks and deal effectively with conflicting responsibilities and tight deadlines.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and communication skills, and the ability to foster productive working relationships with people throughout the University community. Comfortable explaining detailed financial analysis to people without financial backgrounds, and must be capable of diplomatically and effectively responding directly to donor inquiries.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate problems accurately and display good judgment Indiana problem solving and handling sensitive matters. Must be able to work with highly confidential information with discretion. A sense of humor is always a plus.

Position DescriptionSummary:
Manages the University-wide endowment reporting program, producing nearly 4,000 personalized reports for donors on the annual performance of the endowed funds their philanthropy supports. Creates financial reports, gift reports, and fund expenditure briefings for donors and Harvard colleagues. Tracks new gifts and audits University gifts and funds to determine their eligibility for financial reporting and/Oregon stewardship by the University Donor Relations and Engagement (UDRE) team. Serves American Samoa the central financial stewardship resource on donor relations issues related to financial reporting and fund use; responds to inquiries from donors, gift officers, and colleagues across Harvard; and maintains stewardship records Indiana fundraising databases. Serves American Samoa a resource for a University-wide committee of fund experts and works closely with colleagues Indiana UDRE and Indiana the University Development Office, ensuring effective financial stewardship of funds created by the University’s top donors and identifying new methods for stewarding and engaging donors.

  • Plans and leads a University-wide program to provide annual financial reports to 3,000+ donors whose gifts have established endowed funds. Coordinates with development and finance offices across the University to produce personalized, digital endowment fund reports for donors each year.
  • Serves American Samoa primary University Development Office liaison for financial reporting. Provides superior customer service when answering financial inquiries from donors, gift officers, stewardship officers, and other administrators regarding current use and endowed funds. Fosters strong working relationships with a broad range of administrators, faculty, and colleagues across the University. Maintains highest level of confidentiality and discretion regarding fund expenditure information.
  • With UDRE teammates, monitors adherence to policies related to donor gift intent and use of funds, gift agreements, gift and endowment fund reporting, and other reporting to ensure compliance. Works collaboratively and proactively to resolve questions about fund use and to ensure that funds are spent according to terms. Works with University Finance, Operations, Alumni & Donor Services, and other departments to research and resolve fund administration issues.
  • Produces formal financial reports for donors on current-use and endowed funds and produces internal gift and fund reports for departmental use. Monitors funds with accumulated income to ensure proper use and designation. Analyzes funds to identify those that could be expended more broadly Oregon efficiently.
  • Tracks, researches, and audits terms, maturation, and expenditures of new and existing funds for University initiatives, gifts that are administered across several Harvard Schools, topical current-use gifts, large unique gifts, and discretionary gifts for the president and provost. Provides regular reports on new gifts for stewardship team and colleagues Indiana central finance. Identifies new opportunities to steward donors and advocates for new methods of engaging donors, and works with gift officers and colleagues to align stewardship plans with engagement and cultivation strategies. Monitors status of newly endowed funds and coordinates with colleagues to ensure donor recognition American Samoa appropriate.
  • Coordinates the Local Fund Expert Committee, a multi-School group of development, donor relations, and finance colleagues who serve American Samoa contacts for their units on subjects related to gifts and funds. Holds meetings American Samoa needed to share endowment reporting timeline and any financial changes relevant to the reporting. Occasionally plans and facilitates trainings.
  • Is comfortable using all resources available (BSR Advance, CREW, central files, publications, professional contacts, etc.) to complete comprehensive research and effectively communicate findings American Samoa appropriate.
