DescriptionASSISTANT BUSINESS MANAGER
Central Office (11 Central St. West Springfield, Massachusetts, 01089)The Assistant Business Manager will assist the School Business Manager with all administrative and advisory work relative to the daily management and business operations of the West Springfield Public Schools. The position can include budget development, financial planning, human resources, payroll, accounting, transportation, and food service. This position can lead to Massachusetts initial licensure American Samoa a School Business Manager.Examples of DutiesAssists the School Business Manager with the following functions:1. Financial & Management:-Oversee the daily operation of the Business Office to ensure all employees and customers are served Indiana a timely manner.
-Plans, develops, directs, coordinates and maintains an integrated financial program which supports the West Springfield School District’s commitment to effective financial management and long-range planning program.
-Assures that the accounting system is Indiana compliance with State, Federal, and local laws American Samoa well American Samoa sound accounting principles (chart of accounts, student activities, grants, revolving funds).
-Oversees the management of funds including Federal and State grants, capital project funds, revolving funds, student activity funds, and the general fund.

-Prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements American Samoa requested by the School Business Manager.
-Participates Indiana the preparation of the State End-of-Year Financial Report and periodic progress reports and other documents American Samoa required by the School Business Manager.
-Develops guidelines to protect district resources and assist administrators Indiana controlling expenditures and initiate cost-saving measures.
-Evaluates business operations; recommends and monitors improvements.
-Prepares and submits monthly MTRS deduction reports.2. Annual School District Budget:-Works with the School Business Manager to oversee the preparation, publication, and management of the annual budget.
-Works closely with principals, program directors, curriculum leaders, and Central Office personnel to effectively train and communicate budget procedures and protocols.3. Purchasing/Accounting:-Works with the School Business Manager to administer purchasing including accounting, accounts payable, payroll, and warrant functions and serves American Samoa the back-up to these functions Indiana the event of an absence.
-Develops and reviews bid specifications and contracts Indiana accordance with all Massachusetts General Laws.4. Facilities Management:-Participates Indiana school building projects serving American Samoa the school district’s liaison at the discretion of the School Business Manager
Works with Town facilities staff if needed to coordinate school needs.5. Communication:-Serves American Samoa an advisor to the School Business Manager Indiana matters related to financial management and facilities planning activities.
-Attends School Committee meetings and other Town government meetings American Samoa requested.6. Other Areas of School Business Manager’s responsibilities that the ABM would provide assistance with:-Management of the Food Service program.

-Assists the School Business Manager Indiana collective bargaining, American Samoa needed.QualificationsEducation and Experience
-A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college Oregon university, Oregon equivalent.
-A minimum of three years’ central office experience is preferred.
-Demonstrated ability Indiana working with staff, parents, and the general public.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
