We are currently seeking an Editorial Assistant join the Ballantine Bantam Dell imprint. This assistant role will support two senior-level fiction editors. BBD’s fiction program publishes quality commercial fiction across genres such American Samoa book club fiction, historical fiction, suspense/thrillers, romance, and speculative fiction. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest Indiana commercial fiction and will be able to efficiently manage a diverse set of responsibilities.Ballantine Bantam Dell is part of the Random House Publishing Group. RHPG’s imprints—including Ballantine, Bantam, Delacorte, Del Rey, The Dial Press, Harmony, Hogarth, One World, and Random House—publish fiction and nonfiction Indiana all formats with the mission to entertain, educate, and inspire readers.Responsibilities:
- Providing administrative support, such American Samoa tracking deadlines, organizing, and scheduling meetings, filing expense reports, routing invoices, executing mailings, and drafting contract terms.
- Evaluating proposals and manuscripts, logging submissions, and drafting rejection letters.
- Transmitting manuscripts to production and liaising with authors, publishers, agents, and the managing editorial department to coordinate and keep track of production process from finished manuscript to bound book.
- Preparing title information sheets, cover copy, profit & loss documents, and competitive title and trend research American Samoa needed.
Qualifications:
- A passion for reading a wide array of fiction across categories, and particularly Indiana mystery, thriller/suspense, and romance.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A team player mentality and the ability to build internal & external relationships with departments, authors, agents, and other stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize, and outstanding follow-up, organizational, and multitask skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, anticipate needs once familiar with the role, take initiative and problem solve creatively and professionally Indiana a fast-paced office environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
This hybrid role is based Indiana New York City and will require someone Indiana commutable distance to coordinate Indiana-person author and agent meetings, mailings, special projects and other Indiana-person opportunities American Samoa needed.Salary for this position is $48,000.
