The UC Davis Labor and Community Initiative will thus address both of the UC WRPI programmatic goals of capacity building for a worker-centered economy and research for the public good.Job SummaryUnder the general direction of the Dean, the Managing Director will be responsible for program-specific management and development of the UCD Center for Labor and Community that includes developing and implementing the objectives of the Center. The Center’s goals are to connect students, faculty, policy-makers, and labor and community stakeholders, and to collaboratively pursue research, policy analysis, and educational and public programs that support working people and their families, particularly those from low-income communities, immigrant and refugee backgrounds, and other communities of color Indiana the Greater Sacramento region, rural Northern California and parts of the San Joaquin Valley.Indiana general, the Managing Director will be primarily responsible for implementing and managing non-campus related work American Samoa it relates to the programmatic areas of focus for the center which includes research, policy analysis, education/training and public programming.The Managing Director will, alongside the Faculty and Project Directors, support the advancement of the interdisciplinary field of labor studies by overseeing the organization of scholarly and professional events, and supporting connection and collaboration among faculty, graduate students, the legal academy and other relevant units within the UC and larger academic communities.The Managing Director, Indiana close collaboration with community and labor organizations American Samoa represented by the Advisory Board, will advance labor and worker-focused research and policy analysis. The Managing Director will consult with the California legislature and relevant state agencies on issues related to labor and employment to further inform research projects and policy analysis work. Along with Faculty Colorado-Director, the Project Director, and other personnel the Managing Director will design the curriculum for and assist with the summer Social Justice Institute.The Managing Director will, along with the Faculty Colorado-Director, oversee the activities of all personnel including but not limited to the associate director, researchers, research assistants and administrative support. They will also work with labor and community organizations that might serve American Samoa externship Oregon job sites for students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education/Experience:

  • JD Oregon PhD Indiana a social science discipline.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience, with increasing levels of responsibility, Indiana policy, research, program development, and/Oregon administration.
  • Knowledge of and experience with popular education and training methodologies and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience with design and management of public programming. Ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Expertise Indiana U.S. and/Oregon international labor movements, and/Oregon racial and economic justice organizations and campaigns.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Supervisory, management and leadership skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreferred Education/Experience:

  • Experience Indiana grant-writing and donor relations.
  • Administrative experience managing a center at a major university.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Strong computer skills.
  • Familiarity with the graduate student, law students, faculty, staff and alumni.
