Job Title: Director of Nursing (DON) – Long-Term Care FacilityLocation: Ann Arbor, MichiganSummary:The Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the highest standards of care for residents Indiana the long-term care facility. This role requires a seasoned nursing professional with leadership skills to manage and develop nursing staff, maintain regulatory compliance, and implement quality improvement initiatives. The DON will report directly to the facility administrator and work collaboratively with other department heads to foster a safe, supportive, and efficient environment for both residents and staff.Responsibilities:Leadership and Management:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the nursing department, aligning with the facility’s mission and goals.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and other clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement professional development plans.

Quality of Care:

  • Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care by establishing and maintaining clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and oversee care plans, ensuring they are effectively implemented and updated American Samoa needed.
  • Monitor residents’ health status, ensuring timely interventions and proper documentation.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
  • Prepare for and manage state and federal inspections and audits.
  • Implement and oversee infection control protocols.

Staff Development:

  • Coordinate ongoing education and training programs for nursing staff to ensure competency and compliance with best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
  • Communicate effectively with residents’ families, addressing concerns and providing updates on residents’ health status.
  • Participate Indiana interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of facility-wide initiatives.

Administrative Duties:

  • Develop and manage the nursing department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Oversee the scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage and optimal care delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including patient charts, staff files, and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree Indiana Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree Indiana Nursing (MSN) Oregon healthcare administration preferred.
  • Licensure:
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license Indiana the state
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year Indiana a supervisory Oregon management role Indiana a long-term care setting.
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of long-term care practices.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate staff.
