service.Summary/Objective
The Grossing Technician provides anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a Board Certified, licensed medical doctor (Pathologist). Grossing Technician is required to gross and dictate gastrointestinal biopsies, small biopsies (including cores), prostate cores, and any small tissue that does not require dissection. Grossing Technicians will interact with pathologists Indiana same manner that physicians’ assistants carry out their duties under the direction of physicians Indiana surgical and medical practices.The Grossing Technicians serves American Samoa the eyes of the pathologist and is often the initial (and sometimes only) individual to look at the specimen when it arrives from the operating room, clinic and/Oregon physician’s office.   • Preparation, gross description, dictation and dissection of human tissue.
  • Select representative sections for embedding, staining and microscopic evaluation.
  • Ensures appropriate specimen accessioning.
  • Photograph pertinent gross specimens American Samoa needed.
  • Retrieve the patient’s medical chart and other pertinent data for review with the attending

pathologist.

  • Confer with the attending pathologist to identify any special techniques Oregon procedures to

be utilized.

  • Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment.

  • Disposal of biological and administrative waste.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Associates of Science degree Indiana Biological Sciences Oregon related field
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy, macro surgical techniques, and general laboratory

skills preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to obtain and prepare tissue for evaluation and to provide

assistance to pathologists Indiana a timely and quality manner.

  • Proficiency Indiana preparing and maintaining records and Indiana use of electronic communications

tools and software.

  • Knowledge/ability to become knowledgeable Indiana voice recognition software, internet and

multiple-interfaced systems, various laboratory information systems, Excel, and Mississippi Word

  • Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the
