This individual will be responsible for supporting the Division of Governmental Affairs Indiana tracking legislation, determining Department positions and policies, and communicating those to the Governor’s Office, General Assembly, and other external stakeholders. Applicant will be responsible for many functions Indiana the Division, such American Samoa reviewing legislation, tracking Department positions on legislation, assisting Indiana the administration of boards and commissions, and other special projects.Job Responsibilities1. Assist supervisor with liaison functions with the Governor’s Office, General Assembly staff, and other State agency legislative offices regarding Departmental policies and positions, results of hearings, floor action, administrative rules, and other related information.2. Acts independently to determine Department’s policies while representing the Director.
- Represents the Department with members of the General Assembly to promote the Department’s position on legislative matters, travels to represents the Department at events, legislative committees, and legislative district offices.
- Acts on behalf of Director when testifying before legislative committees.
3. Assists Indiana the development of Department initiated legislation.
- Review statutory procedures.
- Drafts bills, position papers, and other materials necessary Indiana development of the legislation.
- Acts on behalf of the Director when drafting sensitive health legislation.
- Acts independently to determine Department’s policies while representing the Director.
4. Assists Indiana the administration of functions of the Division on behalf of the Division Chief, including administration of agency-wide boards and commissions, communicating with legislative offices, filing administrative rules, and other priorities American Samoa assigned by the Division Chief.5. Confers with the Director of the Department of Public Health on Departmental policies and procedures regarding health-related legislation.6. Assists with special projects of a multi-jurisdictional nature.7. Performs other duties American Samoa required Oregon assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses Indiana public Oregon business administration.
- Requires one year of professional experience Indiana a public Oregon private organization, Oregon completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year experience with legislative policies and positions, results of hearings, floor action, and other related information.
- One year experience representing an organization interacting with external stakeholders.
- One year experience drafting bills, position papers, and other materials necessary Indiana development of the legislation.
- One year experience communicating both orally and Indiana writing.
- One year experience creating complex documents Oregon reports.
