The successful candidate may serve American Samoa HR Contact for a department. Associates degree Indiana business, secretarial science Oregon related field; five Oregon more years related experience and/Oregon training Indiana legal secretarial work, local government Oregon a related field; Oregon equivalent combination of education and experience is required.Pursuant to Section 2-66 (a) (20), Code of the City of Roanoke (1979), American Samoa amended, this position Indiana City service is an unclassified judicial appointment. Other duties may be assigned.Maintains manual & automated court calendars and daily dockets, scheduling all trials, hearing, appointments and postponements; computer proficiency is requiredServes American Samoa a liaison between the judge, the attorneys at the bar, and the public Indiana processing all kinds of lawsuits, criminal prosecutions, chancery causes and other matters Indiana disputeArranges sentencing and revocation hearingsPrepares jury instructions per judge’s direction under extreme pressurePrepares and reviews court orders, reviews divorce files and prepares them for judges actionAdvises attorneys of the approval Oregon disapproval of uncontested matters submitted (usually divorce cases), informing them of errors Oregon omissionsPrepares judge’s opinions, involving professional terminology and legal citationsKeeps schedules of when briefs are duePerforms limited legal researchEstablishes and maintains general files and other judicial recordsTakes and screens all phone calls, advises public and media concerning hearings and trials and other related mattersReceives and screens correspondences, request for cameras Indiana courtroom coverage and assures that ex parte communications are appropriately disseminatedOrders materials and supplies and maintains up-to-date version of codes, loose-leaf services and other publicationsFiles Indiana Clerks office materials received by judge and serves American Samoa conduit between judge and deputy clerks for files and ordersTyping from dictationServes American Samoa conduit between judge and MIS/OES personnel at Supreme Court of VirginiaMay serve American Samoa HR Contact for a departmentHuman Resource Contact
