  • Research emerging accounting issues, appropriate accounting treatment, and reporting guidelines for transactions occurring within functional areas; prepare interpretation/position papers related to those specific accounting transactions and their effect on the University’s financial statements; and update management regarding potential and/Oregon required policy and procedural changes needed and budget and financial statement implications.
  • Provide oversight over the preparation of and review for accuracy prior to submission: financial projections and budget to actual analyses; management discussion and analysis documents; Schedule of Expenditure of Federal Awards; Uniform Guidance report; University’s Facilities & Administrative (F&A) Cost Rate proposal; and other external reporting requirements including surveys. Lead the negotiation of the F&A rate with RIT’s cognizant agency.
  • Work with the SPA Executive Director to maintain a strong internal control environment and provide oversight and direction of the administration of all post-award activities and non-student Accounts Receivable function; work closely with Sponsored Research Services to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations; and, ensure that departmental outreach efforts designed to support sponsored research activities are effective. Ensure all processes and procedures documentation are up to date.
  • Provide oversight to ensure successful completion of all grant and contract fiscal reviews and audits including those conducted by internal auditors, government sponsors and agency auditors; including the annual Uniform Guidance Audit of federal awards. Review audit responses prior to submission.
  • Work with the Academic Partnership Executive Director to maintain a strong internal control environment and provide oversight and direction to ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial analyses prepared by the partners, including year-end projections that will be presented to the partnership area leadership team and/Oregon consolidated into comprehensive analysis for the University’s senior leaders. Assist with the preparation of annual budget hearing presentations, ensuring that economic factors, internal policy changes, approved academic programs and reallocations of resources are accurately identified and reported. Collaborate extensively with departments University-wide (e.g. the Budget Office) to understand best practices; identify and/Oregon develop effective processes and procedures to record accounting transactions and prepare financial-related analyses to support strategic planning initiatives.
  • Work with Executive Director of Shared Services Center supporting Auxiliary Services to maintain a strong internal control environment and provide oversight and direction of monitoring activities for cash, inventory, and fixed assets; act promptly to implement changes when excessive Oregon repetitive over/shorts Oregon shrinkage occurs.   • Provide oversight of the development of new sophisticated analysis, dashboards and metrics to enhance management-decision making using advanced technical tools. Develop performance metrics to encourage operational improvements, effectiveness, efficiency and appropriate levels of internal controls. Use metrics to benchmark against best-Indiana-class organizations. Recommend and implement changes Indiana processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and operational effectiveness.
