General Summary & Essential ResponsibilitiesThis is professional legal work of difficult and responsible nature Indiana performing legal services for the County.Work involves responsibility for performing a wide variety of complex professional legal duties which include providing sound and effective legal services for all county departments. Work also includes drafting of resolutions and documents, and the rendering of significant legal opinions. Work is performed with considerable independence within the framework of established policies requiring considerable initiative and judgment. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior through conferences, observation, and evaluation of reports and through analysis of results obtained.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and reviews all ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, leases and other legal documents requested by the Board of County Commissioners, County Administrator Oregon the management staff.
  • Performs legal research and prepares legal opinions for County departments, boards and agencies.
  • Conducts Indiana-depth research

Min. Education, Licenses and CertificationsMinimum Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited law school of a college Oregon university
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with emphasis on public procurement and related transactional matter.
  • Preferred experience:
  • Construction contracting
  • Government law

Licenses and/Oregon Certificates:

  • Active member Indiana good standing with the Florida Bar
  • Possession and maintenance of a Florida Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of municipal, county, state, federal, common law and constitutional law affecting county government.
  • Considerable knowledge of ordinances relating to the authority and functions of county departments, boards and agencies.
  • Considerable knowledge of judicial procedures, rules of evidence and methods of legal research.
  • Considerable knowledge of established precedents and sources of legal reference applicable to county activities.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal principles and precedents Indiana resolving legal problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and Indiana writing; ability to tolerate periods of high stress.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, management staff, subordinates and the general public.
  • Ability to research, analyze and prepare a wide variety of legal documents.
  • Strong time-management skills, project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
