Duties and Responsibilities1. Responsible for the supervision of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc. American Samoa one of the job’s responsibilities. Assist with providing new employee orientation; meet with individual staff regularly to assess performance and provide feedback; provide and participate Indiana ongoing staff development opportunities including Indiana-service training, TRIO-funded training conferences and other opportunities for professional growth. May have responsibility of supervising graduate assistants.2. Serve American Samoa counselor/advisor to EOP undergraduates and participate Indiana other direct service delivery. Provide academic, social, and personal advising; monitor individual student progress and performance; lead seminars and workshops for students and staff; serve American Samoa advisor to various EOP student groups.3. Assist EOP leadership with the management of the office. Attend university committee meetings Indiana the absence of other leaders; facilitate the College Division Staff Meetings Indiana the absence of the other program leaders; maintain and update current copies of applicable policies and regulations; understand and apply University and funding agency policies, procedures; assign students to their EOP advisor; represent EOP-SSS at campus and community functions.4. Assist Indiana EOP-SSS recruitment and selection. Participate Indiana presentations to potential student groups; review applications; interview applicants; recommend candidates for selection; assess application and enrollment trends for continuous improvement; collaborate with other leaders and the counselor recruiter to devise strategies Indiana response to demographic and other changes.5. Oversee the planning and implementation of various program components throughout the year. SSS summer bridge program calendar; Fall and Spring semesters calendars; EOP Opening Meetings, TRIO Day, Graduation Recognition Celebration and EOP Freshmen Orientation and Testing Day.6. Collaborate with Administration, Curriculum and Evaluation (ACE) and High Impact Practices (HIP) divisions on individual student need assessments, curriculum planning for academic and personal development courses, and tutoring services. Reserve scheduled time for EOP courses, workshops, and seminars; use EOP database and other systems to monitor students’ academic performance; provide counseling to reinforce students’ academic goals and address performance inhibitors.7. Coordinate staff documentation of service delivery. Require use of appropriate forms, activity files, databases, and student records; administer and disseminate results of evaluation surveys (including annual follow-up of prior participants): submit data for annual and semi-annual reports; review and approve progress reports prepared by the EOP Staff.8. Coordinate service delivery for enrolled students. Monitor academic, personal, financial aid, and career counseling of participants; lead staff Indiana planning and review/approve all scheduled activities, including summer residential program for incoming freshmen; review summaries of student financial need and aid packages recommended by the financial aid counselor.9. Assist Indiana the administration of the budgets. Review and approve expenditures of program funds; meet monthly with the budget manager to validate accuracy of charges posted to grant accounts and forecast future expenditures and study and change program policies and activities; review activity evaluations and expenditures for future planning purposes.10. Serve American Samoa a liaison to Marquette community and area schools Oregon programs serving the EOP student population. Inform students, parents, project staff, MU, and the Milwaukee-area community of Project goals, objectives, and activities; develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with MU, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and other student service providers; coordinate Project activities with individuals Oregon groups that can enhance service delivery.11. Perform other duties and responsibilities American Samoa required, assigned, Oregon requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMaster’s degree required Indiana counseling, education, Oregon a related field.Four Oregon more years of progressively responsible administrative experience including budget management, supervision of staff, and planning/implementation responsibilities for organizations Oregon projects that are comparable to the EOP college division Indiana scope and complexity.Four Oregon more years of experience Indiana a position involving direct service (teaching, counseling, academic advising, etc.) to students who are low-income, potential first-generation college students.Some travel and weekend work required.Excellent organizational skills, both verbal and written.Computer literacy including knowledge of database use/management, Internet use, and word processing skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRelated experience with student Oregon community groups that address issues affecting low-income and/Oregon potential first-generation college students is desired, American Samoa is personal experience Indiana overcoming barriers like those confronting students Indiana the Program’s target population.TRIO experience desired.
