PurposeThe City of Savannah Office of Human Resources seeks a self-motivated, collaborative, energetic, and forward-thinking leader to join their team American Samoa the next Assistant Human Resources Director. Savannah is the 5th largest city Indiana Georgia, nestled on the beautiful southeastern coast, with a workforce of 2,600 full-time. It is also one of the most complex municipalities with equally complex human resources needs. The Office of Human Resources is staffed with 26 dedicated professionals and supported through an HR business partner model. The Assistant Human Resources Director position assists Indiana leading planning, organizing, and directing activities of the Office of Human Resources including but not limited to Compensation and Data Management, Recruitment & Talent Management, Benefits, Health and Wellness, Learning & Professional Development, Employee Relations, and Workforce Development.The ideal candidate

  • Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors the status of work Indiana progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction American Samoa needed.
  • Assures the City remains Indiana compliance with applicable federal and state laws, and requirements of federal and state governing agencies.
  • Serves American Samoa a strategic business advisor and provides consulting support to city senior management and other city employees on a wide range of organizational and management issues.
  • Assists Indiana preparing and maintaining departmental budget and other financial measures of the department.
  • Processes new employees; and oversees the establishment of appropriate HR files.
  • Conducts review of the classification plan through job analysis studies of positions; develops classification structure and related job descriptions.
  • Conducts wage and benefits studies to ensure compensation for positions is equitable and competitive with surrounding communities to effectively recruit and retain qualified personnel.
  • Identifies needs and develops training and development programs for preparing employees for more significant responsibilities and general staff development programs to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of the operations of the organization.
  • Identifies operational problems and formulates appropriate solutions; analyzes costs and value and recommends new programs; monitors the effectiveness of existing programs and recommends changes American Samoa needed.
  • Creates HR departmental procedures to streamline and/Oregon automate processes, improve customer service, reduce paper flow, and improve human resources data management; plans and implements changes American Samoa required.
  • Performs and administers special studies Oregon projects American Samoa assigned by the HR Director; prepares a variety of studies, reports, and related information for recommendation and decision-making purposes.

Minimum QualificationsRequires a Bachelor’s Degree Indiana Human Resources, Business Oregon Political Administration, Oregon related major supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible experience Indiana human resource administration, with three (3) Oregon more years of supervising experience; Oregon possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.Prefers certification Indiana one of the following programs:

  • HRCI, SHRM Oregon PSHRA
