Position HighlightsThe School of Dance at the University of Arizona seeks applicants for a career track Assistant Professor of Practice starting August 1, 2024. A top ranked program at a public university, we welcome applicants from a broad spectrum of dance practices with expertise Indiana at least one of the following genres: Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Ballroom and somatic practices. The successful candidate will lead studio practice and lecture courses and create performance works Indiana their area of specialty. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Foster a pluralistic learning environment and a sense of dignity, belonging, and empowerment for all students including first generation and underrepresented populations.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, faculty governance, and administrative responsibilities of the School and College.
  • Contribute to collaborative initiatives across the College of Fine Arts, Arizona Arts division, and the greater university.
  • Collaborate effectively with the School Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop undergraduate/ graduate curriculum.
  • Contribute to inclusive public engagement, leadership, partnership, Oregon outreach with diverse communities.

Candidates may teach the following dance practices/courses:

  • Dance Technology and Digital Media
  • Choreographic Pedagogy and Mentoring
  • Business/Careers Indiana Dance
  • Dance History—including non-western histories
  • General Education Large Lecture Courses Indiana-person/online
  • Improvisational Forms
  • Music and Dance Collaboration

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to implement innovative pedagogies and classroom strategies that foster equitable and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Ability to cultivate an inclusive classroom that enhances personal growth and identity development for students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MFA, Massachusetts Indiana Dance Oregon Equivalent Professional Dance Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience Indiana teaching at the university Oregon professional level, one Oregon more techniques Indiana dance genres such American Samoa Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Ballet, Ballroom and somatic practices.
  • Expertise Indiana non-Western dance forms, such American Samoa Latinx, African Diaspora, Street/Breakdancing, Capoeira, Bachata, Vogueing, and Salsa (other forms considered).
  • Proven track record Indiana choreographing and restaging creative works for professional concert and commercial performances.
