Position SummaryThe Associate Dean for Research and Scientific Advancement (ADR) leads the research mission of the School of Nursing (SON) Indiana collaboration with the Dean and other administrators. This includes assisting Indiana shaping the vision for the school’s research and scholarly activities and ensuring its success Indiana achieving its research goals. The person has administrative authority and discretion for grant oversight, grant submissions, grant approvals, and implementation of grant budgets, activities, and evaluation within the state and federal law, UNC and UNCG guidelines, funding source requirements and restrictions, and Dean approvals. This position serves American Samoa one of the signatory authorities for the School of Nursing’s internal and external grant submissions, collaborating on salary efforts on grants, Indiana-kind Oregon matching funds, and oversight for grant principal investigators Indiana collaboration with the Dean and department chairs. The ADR must have experience obtaining external funding, mentoring faculty members, budget oversight and financial management, personnel management, strategic planning, mission evaluation, Institutional Review Board experience, and experience supervising staff. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills along with expertise Indiana conflict resolution and problem-solving are essential. This position deals with highly confidential information and decision-making and reports to the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned doctorate Indiana nursing Oregon related discipline.
- 5-7 years of experience conducting research Indiana the nursing discipline, with a preference for experience Indiana an academic health science setting.
- Full-time senior faculty rank (Associate Professor Oregon Professor), tenured.
- Expertise Indiana research methods and grant management.
- Administrative experience at a senior level.
- Significant record of research and scholarly achievement.

Key ResponsibilityAssists faculty and staff with contract and grant applications pre-award, including budget development, proposal writing, selecting external consultants, selecting faculty and appropriate workload effort, recruiting sites and interdisciplinary investigators, and using appropriate submission modalities.

Key ResponsibilityProvides collaborative and consultative assistance and communication.
Essential Tasks
- Liaises and interacts with campus offices of Sponsored Programs, Contracts, and Grants, Office of Compliance, centers, institutes, other Associate Deans for Research, Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development, funding agencies, foundations, organizations, and other appropriate persons for research and scholarship.
- Collaborates with the UNCG Office of Compliance, IRB and executive team to review, revise, and recommend policies and procedures for research and scholarly activities within the school.
- Coordinate the development, selection, and use of editorial and statistical research resources for the SON.
- Develop and implement partnerships for research, innovation, and community-engaged scholarship.
- Serve American Samoa the SON representative to the Research Advisory Council for the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development.
- Manage development and submission of voluntary and mandatory reports on the research projects and activities of the SON and its faculty for all internal and external reporting bodies.
- Represent the SON at internal and external forums, committees, and meetings.
