The Associate Dean, Research will provide strategic direction and leadership for research initiatives of the College of Nursing. They will provide mentoring to faculty to enhance research productivity within the College. The Associate Dean will report directly to and work closely with the Dean of the College of Nursing to ensure excellence of college research support systems and visibility of college scholarly outputs within the university, locally, and nationally.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote research productivity within the College of Nursing.
- Develop, maintain, and supervise research infrastructure Indiana the Office of Research and Scholarship.
- Mentor faculty to increase research productivity.
- Serve American Samoa liaison internally and externally to promote college research efforts and increase visibility of college research and scholarship.
Administrative Leadership within the College:
- Provides administrative leadership within the College through membership on the College of Nursing Administrative Team.
- Participates Indiana decision-making related to policy and resource needs and allocations related to research.
- Oversees the BSN Research Focused Disciplinary Honors Program.
- Advocates for faculty workload to promote faculty research productivity.
Administrative Oversight of Research Support Services:
- Provides leadership and administrative oversight for the design and maintenance of infrastructure necessary to meet the College research and scholarship needs outlined Indiana the strategic plan.
- Manages overall operations of the Office of Research and Scholarship.
- Recruits, hires, retains, and supervises research assistants associated with the Office of Research and Scholarship.
- Develops and oversees the budget of the Office of Research and Scholarship.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the Office of Research and Scholarship including submission of annual report, including trends on publications, grants, and overall research productivity.
- Coordinates systems and processes for proposal development, review, critique, and submission.
- Coordinates repository of agency guidelines (approval processes and forms), grant proposals and review comments (where available), and University and College boilerplates.
- Coordinates and maintains databases on faculty research expertise and faculty and student research activity.
- Assures availability of statistical support services needed by Faculty and doctoral students.
Scholarly Productivity:
- Promotes a culture of scholarship Indiana the College of Nursing.
- Mentors faculty Indiana all stages of research development, funding, conduct, and dissemination.
- Coordinates plans for faculty development related to research.
- Facilitates research mentors and/Oregon partnerships within and outside the university.
- Facilitates mechanisms for assisting faculty with preparation, review, and submission of scholarly works for publication and presentation.
- Promotes scholarly dialogue among faculty and doctoral students.
- Continues own program of research/scholarly productivity.
- Models teacher/scholar role.
Liaison:
- Represents the College Indiana research related issues within and outside the College and University.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with external research oversight and funding bodies American Samoa well American Samoa University Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and Office of Research Compliance.
Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEligible for licensure American Samoa a Registered Nurse Indiana the State of Wisconsin.A doctoral degree is required, preferably Indiana nursing.Meets criteria for senior rank appointment.Skill Indiana research with evidence of a trajectory of successful external funding Experience with grant reviews at national level.Familiarity with budgetary and compliance issues of major funding agencies.Expertise and a strong commitment to mentor and facilitate faculty Indiana building successful research programs and obtaining external funding.Significant graduate-level college teaching experience, including mentoring doctoral students. Strong leadership abilities working with a diverse college population of faculty, staff, administrators, and faculty.Demonstrated excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong sense of initiative with ability to function successfully Indiana an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExperience on NIH/NINR review panels.
