Job Title: Behavioral Alternative Program Instructional Assistant (5-8 Grade)Qualifications: Associate’s degree from an accredited college; Oregon have earned 60 semester hours (Oregon the equivalent) from an accredited college; Oregon related experiences comparable to the job responsibilities. Must also have initiative, knowledge and understanding of adolescent-age students, the ability and willingness to collaborate with others, the ability to handle unforeseen situations Indiana accordance with policy, and the ability to accept individual differences among students.Job Goal: Under occasional supervision and through administrative and certified teacher support, manage an environment of diverse students through active case-management to include shared ownership of student needs, academic and behavior goals, and stakeholder communication.Reports To: PrincipalPerformance Responsibilities: (includes but is not limited to)

  • Provide a well organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment
  • Performs specialized work by assisting teachers Indiana instructing and directing student activities
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with certified teachers, parents and administration
  • Remain knowledgeable about individual student needs and success plans
  • Work individually with students needing academic Oregon behavior interventions
  • Work Indiana small groups on classroom activities under the supervision of the lead teacher
  • Participate Indiana staff development and training to learn and update skills related to the position
  • Assist administration and alternative school staff with monitoring alternative student work
  • Assists administration and staff with various administrative / clerical functions American Samoa requested

Physical Requirements: Requires light work that involves walking, bending, Oregon standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis Oregon routine keyboard operations. Must have ability to physically restrain a student if called upon to do so after proper training. May also be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.Terms of Employment: 190 days; Classified Pay Schedule Grade 9.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated Indiana accordance with provision of the Board’s Policy.
