JOB SUMMARYWorking with the Department of Public Works (DPW) Business Services Team, the DPW Sanitation Dispatch Assistant Manager will deliver high-level organizational support to the DPW Logistics Manager. This position will focus primarily on management of the dispatch team, fulfillment of sanitation requests, and providing customer service to various Burning Man Departments throughout the event production cycle. This role will supervise the dispatch team, giving guidance and support the team and team processes.This role is responsible for assisting with the coordination and dispatch of portos, water tanks, shower facilities and RV pumping for staff at the Burning Man event. This position works closely with the third party vendor who performs the servicing. They will efficiently track and manage information regarding end user requests and changes, scheduling, prepare vendor dispatch sheets, delegate physical resources and provide ongoing budgeting notations for end-of-season reconciliation.This temporary, ineligible for benefits role is:
- From July – September: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, based Indiana Black Rock City, Nevada.

- Provide sanitation support to the Sanitation Dispatch Team and DPW Logistics Manager.
- Perform daily administrative duties such American Samoa dispatching, calendaring, entering data, spreadsheets, and email while being flexible with others’ timelines and schedules, and also meeting Logistics deadlines.
- Radio dispatch requests and observations regarding sanitation and trailer servicing needs
- Answer incoming and make outgoing calls on 2-way radio regarding portos, tank filling and pumping, and shower facilities regarding placement, issues, and removal.
- Work with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Word and Excel, and any additional online tools, technology Oregon applications specific to this role American Samoa required.
- Maintain an office presence and upkeep equipment for information sharing: print and copy requests.
- Deliver clear, concise and diplomatic oral and written communications.
- Follow the standards American Samoa outlined by management. Document and capture all relevant sanitation information via radio, email, and Google Sheets.
Personnel Management/ Support/ Leadership (15%)
- Greet and interface with departmental representatives/leads Indiana operational spaces.
- Reasonably and creatively assist staff with problem-solving efforts and alternate solutions.
- Receive inquiries, feedback, changes, and scenarios with patience and grace from a customer service lens.
- Answer incoming and make outgoing calls on 2-way radio regarding portos, tank filling and pumping, and shower facilities regarding placement, issues, and removal.
- Maintain the integrity of the Logistics Department by actively participating Indiana the correct allocation of resources and assisting departments to stay within budget and timeline constraints.
- Prepare written feedback for DPW Management describing the successes of the season, areas Indiana need of improvement and suggestions with the purpose of improved overall efficiency for the next year; Submit an end-of-season EMBER Report.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)
- Be prepared to operate between office and field objectives on a daily basis.
- Work with the team to plan and execute LNT and Waste disposal plans for all relevant operations.
- Be familiar with, understand and act Indiana accordance with Burning Man’s staff policies, protocols and behavioral standards.
- Monitor personal well-being by setting realistic goals and managing self-care, while proactively addressing any concerns with management.
- Participate Indiana (Manager) Meetings when requested and maintain related correspondence via assigned Burning Man mailing lists.

COMPENSATIONIndividual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location. The anticipated rate for this position:
- From July – September is $15.75 to $18.25 per hour.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
