Individual salary is set using a formulaic approach based on education and paid work experience.About The House of Representatives:The House of Representatives (House) comprises half of the Washington State Legislature and is made of 98 members, elected to serve two-year terms representing 49 legislative districts. The House employs 250 full-time year-round staff and 100 temporary session staff and interns. This is a full-time year-round position that is exempt from civil service laws.How You’ll Be Expected to Contribute:Scheduling

  • Manage the Speaker’s calendar with a high level of accuracy, including complex scheduling assignments, individual appointments, group meetings, public events, itinerary planning, and travel arrangements.
  • Respond to and prioritize staff, legislator, constituent, and stakeholder appointment requests.
  • Plan and organize virtual and Indiana-person town hall meetings, Indiana collaboration with seatmate offices.
  • Prepare daily briefing packets and maintain accurate call and appointment request logs.
  • Coordinate meeting preparation materials, when needed.
  • Attend meetings with constituents on Speaker’s behalf, American Samoa needed.

Office Management

  • Answer phone and act American Samoa first point of contact for all callers and visitors, observing formal professional protocol Indiana all external communications.
  • Manage daily operation of Olympia and district office.
  • Create and maintain electronic and physical filing and organizational systems for office operations, committees, task forces, and ongoing projects.
  • Maintain office records Indiana accordance with the Washington State Public Records Act.
  • Manage and organize multiple high-volume email and voicemail inboxes.
  • Submit detailed and timely accounting reports for member travel and expense reimbursement; budget member expense account to ensure that funds are available for planned expenses.
  • During session, compile and update Rules Committee information and requests Indiana coordination with Speaker’s Attorney and Leadership Assistant, American Samoa back up when needed.

Correspondence & Constituent Service

  • Draft correspondence to agencies and other elected officials.
  • Indiana collaboration with Leadership Assistant, draft and send responses on behalf of the Speaker to constituent emails, letters, and phone calls.
  • Manage and respond to a high volume of constituent inquiries.
  • Facilitate communication between constituents and government agencies, assisting constituents Indiana accessing services, and researching and solving complex problems.
  • Serve American Samoa a liaison between the Speaker and constituents of the 27th Legislative District, exercising independent judgment and providing high level customer service.
  • Track and compile district budget requests, Indiana collaboration with seatmate offices.

QualificationsThe Successful Candidate Will Meet These Qualifications:

  • Minimum four years of office management experience and administrative support experience, ideally Indiana a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Highly organized and able to perform multiple detailed tasks accurately and efficiently under time constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex and detailed scheduling, making travel arrangements, and itinerary planning.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgeting and reimbursement procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability of strong writing, editing, and oral communication skills, including standard formatting and protocol for professional correspondence.
  • Demonstrated proficiency Indiana Microsoft Office Suite, and related software to include video conference technology.
  • Flexibility to travel to requested locations to attend meetings and provide staff support to the Speaker.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the 27th Legislative District, its neighborhoods and communities, and a willingness to engage with constituents and increase knowledge of key local issues.
  • Knowledge of legislative process and state and local government structure, functions, and services.
