Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license may be required.Duties Description The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) is seeking a Facility Operations Assistant 1 to work Indiana Albany County. The Facility Operations Assistant 1 is a critical position tasked with the duty of maintaining, operating, and continuously monitoring all office equipment. This diligent oversight is crucial Indiana ensuring that the OCFS fulfills its service commitments to the residents of New York State.Office Summary:The OCFS is dedicated to improving the integration of services for New York’s children, youth, families, and vulnerable populations; to promoting their development; and to protecting them from violence, neglect, abuse, and abandonment.Bureau of Clearances and Records:The Bureau of Clearances and Records (BCR) is responsible for conducting child abuse and maltreatment background checks on all prospective foster and adoptive parents, childcare providers, residential care staff, and various other public and private employees who have contact with children throughout New York State. Eligible employees cannot begin employment without the BCR completing the clearance process and thousands of New York State residents submit their clearance information each day.The BCR also coordinates the processing of requests for administrative reviews and fair hearings related to child abuse and maltreatment cases statewide. Additionally, the BCR completes criminal history reviews for all prospective foster and adoptive parents, childcare providers, and mentors Indiana New York State. Finally, the BCR is responsible for maintaining records of child abuse and maltreatment statewide and releasing portions of these records upon request by authorized individuals.Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:The Facility Operations Assistant 1 is responsible for the daily inspection and maintenance of various office equipment. This includes high-capacity printers, commercial document scanners, letter folding and envelope stuffing machines, and an industrial document shredder. They ensure that all printers are full of paper, have sufficient toner, are free of paper jams, and that no printer error codes are present. They monitor the printers during daily scheduled print jobs to prevent mechanical issues and overflow of print output trays. They also review letters for valid addresses and prepare them for processing. Their duties include operating the letter folding and envelope stuffing machines, clearing paper/envelope jams when needed, and performing regular preventive maintenance tasks on these machines. They maintain and operate document imaging machinery, uploading documents into a central repository. Additionally, they monitor office supply levels, place monthly orders, and manage the distribution of supplies and equipment.
