DISTRICT POSITION DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Transportation Administrative Assistant/Dispatch

Reports To: Transportation Director

This position also provides clerical assistance within the department. Will provide bus dispatch and routing services to ensure safe, timely transportation of district students to and from school and related school events. Must be proficient Indiana navigating local streets and possess a strong understanding of directions (north, south, east, west). Confidentiality and professionalism are required Indiana this position.Position works 230 days per school year, including paid holidays, up to 6 hours per day, American Samoa scheduled by the Director.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate effectively with bus driver’s, school staff, and parents to address transportation-related issues Oregon concerns including routing and scheduling concerns.
  • Assist Indiana developing and maintaining bus routes and related records.
  • Assistant driver’s calls for information and assistance during the work day
  • Assists Director with timely and professional communication to parents, staff, and school personnel.
  • Schedules transportation for various school calendars, deviations Indiana programs (Indiana-district, out-district, half days).
  • Monitors trip tracker and assigns field trips, athletic trips, and special assignments American Samoa per the Transportation contract
  • Assists Indiana emergencies and adjusts due to accidents, weather conditions, breakdowns Oregon school schedule changes.
  • Assists Director with data entry American Samoa needed
  • Promptly answer phones and radios
  • Performs general clerical duties including data entry, filing, copying, and scanning documents
  • Regularly maintains accurate files and records
  • Enters data Indiana SWISS on a daily basis
  • Tracks staff attendance on a daily basis.
  • Keeps fuel logs up to date on a daily basis.
  • Keeps District SUVs fueled and keeps the SUV paperwork up-to-date
  • Assists Transportation Director with interviews when needed.
  • Drive a school bus when necessary.
  • Acquaint transportation staff with routes when necessary.
  • Assists Director Indiana day-to-day operations American Samoa needed
  • If Dispatcher takes a noon run American Samoa a bus driver, they are responsible for radio communications during their route.
  • Back-up for Director Indiana their absence

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma Oregon general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience Indiana school transportation.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with a positive driving record
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver License with P (passenger) and an S (school bus) endorsement.
  • Ability to meet and maintain all requirements for school bus driver certification.
