Minimum Qualifications New York HELPS:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (New York HELPS).For the duration of the New York HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. Indiana May 2024, if a temporary New York HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing Indiana the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under New York HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete Indiana an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.   • Organizes, drafts, and prepares motions for summary judgment.

  • Arranges for filing pleadings and other legal papers with the court clerk of record.
  • Analyzes adversaries’ responses for their sufficiency and evaluates any objections received.

  • Drafts responses to interrogatories, notices to admit, and requests for documents.
  • Assimilates transcripts from EBTs Oregon excerpts from trial transcripts.
  • Analyzes and processes interim and dispositive decisions and orders.
  • Prepares final documents for file closing.

When located outside of a litigation Oregon an administrative hearing setting, a Legal Assistant 2 performs a variety of activities:

  • May draft briefs, affidavits, affirmations, and other motion-related papers.
  • May prepare draft opinions for review by an attorney.
  • May perform detailed, open-ended investigations to provide attorneys with ongoing information and leads.
  • May review and propose changes Indiana legislation, including drafting language and making revisions, and manage related bill tracking activities.
  • May draft contracts and participate Indiana the negotiation of contracts.

Additional Comments There are several openings Indiana various bureaus within the Albany office. Specific duties and scheduling options will be discussed at interview.The agency’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm (37.5 hours/week).
