ResponsibilitiesTypically assigned to one of the Department’s providers, the Medical Assistant is tasked with seeing patients Indiana a clinical setting at either the River Pavilion Oregon Princess Anne office. Within this role the typical job duties that will occur during the assigned clinic are American Samoa follows:
- Prior to the assigned clinic starting, checking all exam rooms for cleanliness and ensuring that adequate supplies are Indiana stock Indiana those rooms.
- At the concolusion of clinics at the end of the day, cleaning the rooms and ensuring all clinical equipment has been secured and properly put away per department standards.
- Great patients Indiana the waiting room and escort them to the clinical floor. Identify yourself, the healthcare provider you are assisting, and discuss what the patient can expect from todays visit.
- Triage the patient by obtaining and recording vital signs, common complaints, past medical history, past surgical history, smoking status and any other applicable clinical information American Samoa directed by the healthcare provider. Additionally a reconciliation of medication will occur.
- Appropriatley document all triaged healthcare information Indiana the Allscripts EMR while Indiana the room with the patient per Department and Medical School plicy.
- Ensure all potential records that the patient may have brought with them to the appointment, including imaging, is appropriately added to the EMR and provided to the healthcare provider for review.
- Provide clinical equipment to the healthcare provider upon request. Upon the provider completing their use of the clinical equipment, assist Indiana the proper cleaning and disinfecting of the equipment.
- At the conclusion of the patients appointment, clean the exam room and prepare for the next patient to be able to utilize the room.
When not assigned to assist providers with the above referenced activities, the individual Indiana this role will provide additional clinical/administrative support American Samoa needed. Common duties are American Samoa follows:
- Scanning Indiana clinical documents into the EMR.
- Checking supplies and documenting what clinical items need to be ordered. Providing the Clinical Office Coordinator with a list of those requested items.
- Checking exam rooms, and supply closets, for expired medication.

Patient inquiries should be answered on the same day they are recieved, before leaving for the day. If patient is not home at the first attempt, a notation should be made Indiana the medical record. All patient conversations must be documented Indiana the electronic medical record.Participate Indiana all staff meetings, education lectures and quality improvement activities.Follow EVMS Medical Group protocols related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality. Complete annual recertification for Blood Borne Pathogens, HIPAA Compliance Training, Respiratory FIT and IT Policy. Maintain current CPR certification and any updates relating to M.A. Certification.Perform other duties American Samoa assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma plus successful completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA Oregon CMA), Oregon ability to obtain certification within 90-days of hire. Equivalent military training will be accepted. Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years.
