JOB LOCATIONDuke Cardiology of South Durham – 234 Crooked Creek Pkwy #540, Durham, North Carolina 27713$5,000 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out Indiana 2 equal installments over 12 months Indiana 6-month increments (received at 6 months and 12 months). ​**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System Indiana the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the commitment bonus.**JOB SUMMARYWe are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties Indiana a Health System medical practice to assist medical and/Oregon nursing staff Indiana the examination and treatment of patients and ensure office runs smoothly.
  • Administrative duties may include but not limited to the following:
  • Answer telephones
  • Greet patients
  • Update and file patient medical records
  • Fill out insurance forms
  • Handle correspondence
  • Schedule appointments
  • Arrange for hospital admissions
  • Arrange for laboratory services
  • Handle billing and bookkeeping
  • Perform other administrative duties American Samoa directed
  • Clinic Duties may include but not limited to the following:
  • Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
  • Assisting the physician during the examination and procedures
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Perform basic laboratory tests on the premises Dispose of contaminated supplies
  • Sterilize medical instruments.
  • Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement Indiana the plan of care, and document Indiana patient record.
  • Prepare and administer medications American Samoa directed by a physician
  • Authorize drug refills American Samoa directed
  • Telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
  • Draw blood
  • Prepare patients for x-rays, tests and procedures. Take electrocardiograms Remove sutures/ staples. Change sterile and non-sterile dressings.
  • Perform other clinical functions American Samoa delegated and supervised by the physician.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Oregon the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
  • High school Oregon GED graduation required.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA Oregon ARMA required.
  • BLS required
  • Level I — No experience required.
  • Level II — 1 year of clinical experience American Samoa a Medical Assistant, Certified Indiana a clinical setting.
