Emphasis of the work is on assisting providers, nurse managers and Case Manager Indiana the examination and treatment of patients and performing a variety of related clerical tasks.ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Using computer applications
- Answering telephones
- Welcoming patients
- Updating and filing patient medical records
- Coding and filling out insurance forms
- Scheduling appointments
- Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.
Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Taking medical histories
- Preparing patients for examination
- Assisting the physician during exams and certain procedures
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests
- Drawing blood
- Taking electrocardiograms
- May perform other advanced clinical duties under direction and supervision of a nurse Oregon a physician, American Samoa needed based on assigned unit.

ExperienceGenerally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.EducationGraduation from an approved Medical Assistant school is required.Credentials
- Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants Oregon credentialing American Samoa a Registered Medical Assistant by the American Society of Medical Technologies preferred.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
