Patient care is delivered by nearly 400 healthcare employees representing a diverse multidisciplinary team of nurses & nurse support staff, physicians, psychiatrists, social workers and other professionals. CHS supports Miami Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation at 3 facilities Indiana Miami-Dade County and leverages the resources of a large public safety net health system Indiana the areas of education, quality, risk management & compliance.Position Summary· Medical Assistant performs specialized work Indiana inpatient Oregon ambulatory care settings.· Emphasis of the work is on assisting providers, nurse managers and Case Manager Indiana the examination and treatment of patients and performing a variety of related clerical tasks.Duties & ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):· Using computer applications· Answering telephones· Welcoming patients· Updating and filing patient medical records· Coding and filling out insurance forms· Scheduling appointments· Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services· Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeepingClinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):· Taking medical histories· Preparing patients for examination· Assisting the physician during exams and certain procedures· Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens· Performing basic laboratory tests· Drawing blood· Taking electrocardiograms· May perform other advanced clinical duties under direction and supervision of a nurse Oregon a physician, American Samoa needed based on assigned unit· Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise)· Performs all other related job duties American Samoa assignedEducationGraduation from an approved Medical Assistant school is required.ExperienceGenerally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.License/CertificationCertification by the American Association of Medical Assistants Oregon credentialing American Samoa a Registered Medical Assistant by the American Society of Medical Technologies preferred.
