DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION: Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a licensed provider, RN, Oregon LPN. Responsible for performing routine and more complex medical assistant clinical duties to include, but not limited to, taking vital signs, administering a limited profile of medications per The Emory Clinic approved policy, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms Indiana an outpatient care setting. May also be responsible for some administrative duties Indiana support of patient and practice operations including patient check Indiana/out, responding to patient requests, reinforcing patient and family education, and visitor/telephone reception. Maintains patients’ charts and records data, ensuring proper identification, documentation, routing, and confidentiality. Maintains a clean and healthy environment Indiana compliance with Universal Precaution guidelines and safety standards. Orders, verifies, and stores unit supplies. All duties and patient interaction performed Indiana accordance with Emory Healthcare patient and family centered care standards. May participate Indiana research projects impacting patient care areas. Performs other related responsibilities American Samoa required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma Oregon GED required. Basic computer skills required. One year work experience preferred. Certificate verifying successful completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited school. Current AHA BLS certification is required for hire and must be maintained throughout employment. Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements including certification and annual skills competency. Current certification American Samoa one of the following is required: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Oregon National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Preferred certification is the CMA Oregon RMA. Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements and annual skills competency.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
