Any applications received after will be consider Indiana subsequent reviews.The Multnomah County Drainage District (MCDD) reduces flood risk by maintaining our levee system, managing drainage, and responding to emergencies across 13,000 acres of land along the Columbia Slough and lower Columbia River. MCDD manages four public agencies, led by elected boards, that collectively operate and maintain 27 miles of levees, 12 pump stations and 45 miles of sloughs, canals, and culverts.Our flood control systems reduce flood risk for residential communities, the Portland International Airport, sections of I-5, I-205, and I-84, Oregon’s second largest supply of drinking water, and critical electricity and gas hubs. We are looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to support our Operations team and the work they do to maintain and operate our flood control systems.If you love being outdoors and the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks critical to public infrastructure, this is the ideal position for you! Although our mission is what brings all of us together, there is much more than meets the eye when you work for MCDD.About the Position: This position will perform various tasks, including pump station inspections, beaver dam and stormwater blockage removal, the operation of vehicles, including trucks and trailers, painting, and support on Operation & Maintenance (O&M) projects American Samoa needed. The assistant will also perform servicing and minor repairs to tools and equipment, perform manual labor tasks with small equipment and hand tools, perform building maintenance, and complete paperwork associated with different administrative tasks. Work is performed Indiana partnership with the operations crew Oregon independently. The position reports to the Operations Manager.This position is a temporary seasonal hire for an estimated duration of 600 hours. The duration is estimated to be from June to September.Examples of DutiesGeneral Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to the operation of vehicles and equipment, including truck & trailer, herbicide spray tanks, hydro-seeder; perform servicing and minor repairs to tools and equipment; perform manual labor tasks with small equipment and hand tools; perform building maintenance and application of general use herbicides; complete paperwork associated with different tasks. Work is performed American Samoa part of our O&M team and is supervised by a crew lead.

  • Assist with routine maintenance Indiana:
  • Levee systems
  • Pump station systems
  • Drainage ways
  • Facilities repairs
  • Perform essential core tasks for system reliability.
  • Weekly pump station inspections
  • Drainage way clearing and debris removal
  • Pump station and culvert grates clearing
  • Levee mowing and other vegetation removals
  • Weed eating pump stations and levee areas.
  • Herbicide application

Typical QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Knowledge of:

  • Safe work practices and the safety culture
  • Working with power tools and equipment
  • Reading, math, and communication (oral, listening, and written) skills equivalent to those obtained by completing high school Oregon commensurate experience

Ability to:

  • Work Indiana a team environment
  • Have a positive attitude Indiana a work setting
  • Operate simple power tools and hand tools
  • Learn and apply safety techniques and standards
  • Periodically bend, twist, and climb Indiana and out of vehicles and equipment

  • Work outdoors for extended periods under unfavorable conditions
  • Lift 100 pounds and maneuver 50 pounds

Education, Experience, and Special Requirements:

  • High school diploma Oregon G.E.D
  • Valid class ā€œCā€ state driver’s license (valid driver’s license for 1 year Oregon more) and clean driving record
  • Requires 0-2 years related experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience operating basic power tools.
  • Knowledge of construction site safety awareness
  • Experience operating workboat with an outboard motor.
