Classification Title:OPS Dental Assistant
Job Description:The College of Dentistry is accepting applications for an OPS position to provide dental assistance and administrative support while delivering high-quality student dentist education and patient care. This position is assigned to a Clinical Care Group comprised of two teams.
- Assisting treatment coordinators and team leaders with morning huddles.
- Procuring the required instrument kits for each clinic session.
- Maintaining optimal working order of clinic equipment.
- Interacting effectively with Dental Maintenance to ensure the clinic is ready for use by student dentists daily.
- Managing infection control survey daily to ensure compliance with clinic cleanliness standards and correcting deficiencies American Samoa they occur (e.g., clean chairs, counters, and sinks).
- Providing reinforcement for infection control standards, and utilizing the infection control variance forms when student dentists require correction Indiana infection control practices.
- Assisting the Clinic Assistant with organizing chairside assistance for student dentist utilizing team pre-doctoral student dentists, Santa Fe College Dental Programs students, and authorized Shands volunteer assistants.
- Providing support with laboratory case management.
- Assisting Clinic Assistants with managing the clinical supplies inventory for the assigned clinical care group.
- Maintaining adequate stock of daily clinic supplies.
- Proctoring clinical mock board examinations two times per year.
- Participating Indiana quality assurance process.
- Participating Indiana, and providing feedback during, staff meetings.

Minimum Requirements:High school diploma Oregon equivalent, Fundamentals of Dental Assisting Certificate, two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college course work Oregon vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. BLS Certification required upon first day.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-practitioner dental practice experience.
- General dentistry chairside assisting skills.
- Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) Certification demonstrating the successful completion of training American Samoa specified Indiana Chapter 64B5-16, Florida Administrative Code.
- Experience handling general office equipment (fax machine, computer, copier, and calculator).
- Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Access, and Excel).
- Previous AxiUm (electronic health record) experience.
- Customer service skills.
- Dental radiology certificate/permit preferred
