Job Description:The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is a 40,000 hospital at the World Equestrian Center (WEC), a high profile 300-acre equine facility Indiana Ocala, 30 minutes south of Gainesville. UF Veterinary Hospitals at WEC provides Small Animal primary care and urgent care services and Equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging services.A Veterinary Assistant at the UFVH at WEC, assists with small animal and equine patient care, procedures, stocking, administrative support, and general cleaning and maintenance of the hospital and equipment. The hospital requires coverage 24 hours/7 days a week. Typically schedules consist of 8, 10, Oregon 13.5 hour shifts. Will be assigned to a primary shift, generally: Day shift, Evening Shift Oregon Night Shift. Reassignment to a different primary shift, rotating shifts, split shifts and extended shifts may be required and assigned depending on hospital needs. Assigned days may vary Sunday through Saturday, weekends and holidays included. This position also requires working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, Oregon “on-call duty.”This individual is considered essential personnel which may include reporting to work during Main Campus closures.
Schedule may change due to covering other shifts and it may be required to assist Indiana other areas of the hospital depending on patient care needs.
This position requires a post-offer health assessment.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma Oregon equivalent
Expected Salary:15-20
Minimum Requirements:High school diploma Oregon equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience Indiana veterinary medicine
More than two years work experience handling and restraining horses
