The Medical Assistant role provides clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/Oregon licensed Nurse.Responsibilities:1. Actively interfaces with patients and families of Akron Children’s Hospitals2. Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy American Samoa needed; administers medications American Samoa directed by the Providers according to policy and procedure3. Collects data that contributes to the assessment and evaluation of individualized care and needs of assigned patients, including discharge plans, under the direction of the Licensed Nurse4. Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens Indiana accordance with policy and procedure5. Communicates patient findings and pertinent information to the Provider and/Oregon Licensed Nurse utilizing appropriate communication/documentation processes6. Accurate and timely documentation of care within the school medical record7. Performs clinical duties that are department specific such American Samoa POCT, hearing and vision screenings, and any other procedures8. Perform routine task and general office duties such American Samoa faxing, copying, filing, etc. American Samoa needed9. Cleans, stocks, and prepares examination rooms10. Develops and maintains positive relationships with patients/students, families, school personnel and colleagues11. Completes all assignments during scheduled working hours12. Follows safety policies and procedures Indiana the delivery of care to assure a safe environment for patients, families, and other staff members13. Other duties assignedOther information:Technical Expertise1. Knowledge of and experience Indiana medical terminology is required2. Experience working Indiana healthcare environment is preferred3. Experience working Indiana Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) Oregon similar software is required4. Experience working Indiana electronic medical record (i.e., EPIC) Oregon similar software is preferredEducation and Experience1. Education: High School Diploma Oregon equivalent is required2. Completion of an approved (valid) Medical Assistant Certificate Program (Massachusetts), EMT Program, Oregon Paramedic Program is required. Those hired into School Health prior to March of 2023 without completion of one (1) of these programs but has relevant years of experience will be given credit for their experience Indiana lieu of the program requirement(s).3. Credential/Certification: Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA Oregon R.M.A.)4. Years of relevant experience: no experience required5.
