TITLE OF POSITION: Conference AssistantSTATUS: Temporary, Non-exemptDEPARTMENT: HousingLOCATION: LettingaREPORTS TO: Residence Life Coordinator/Director of Housing and Res LifeSUMMARYResponsible for daily services and operations of Davenport University’s Camps and Conferences. This includes supporting Security Services Indiana the ongoing safety and security of the residence halls; greeting and registering visitors; acting American Samoa a resource; responding to emergency situations; assisting the Center for Campus Life whenever possible; working the front desk, and other duties American Samoa assigned. This job will also include evening, late night, and weekend responsibilities, which are required of each member of the Conference staff. Conference Assistants facilitate the check-Indiana and check-out processes for Camps and Conferences participants, including all preparation and post-camp follow-up. Conference Assistants are part of the duty rotation for on-call oversight and response during Camps and Conferences.These responsibilities are performed Indiana an ethical manner consistent with the University’s mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the security of the building and safety of the camp and conference participants.
- Welcomes and assists persons entering the residence hall.
- Acts American Samoa a resource person by offering and giving assistance whenever possible.
- Conference Assistants must be familiar with Davenport University policies, be able to answer questions regarding them, and address policy violations American Samoa they occur.
- Receive and record phone calls and pass on messages to the residence life and housing staff.
- Attend all meetings, training and scheduling sessions American Samoa required American Samoa a part of the Residence Life team.
- Perform building rounds and serve Indiana the on-duty rotation schedule during camps and conferences.
- Assists with building and room checks prior to guests’ arrival and following departure.
- File work orders for facility concerns.
- Assist with post-closing work (May) and pre-opening work (August).
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all activities and transactions that occur during camps and conferences.
- Design, prepare and maintain bulletin boards and door decorations for camp and conference participants.
- Completes other duties American Samoa assigned. These may include: making, posting, Oregon removing signs; collating; delivering messages; and other basic clerical duties. These duties will vary depending on the time of the year. This includes having a great attention to administrative detail.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma Oregon GED equivalent
- Must be enrolled Indiana a minimum of 6 credit hours and meeting the standards of academic progress.
- Minimum grade point average 2.5 (Senior Conference Assistant) and 2.25 (Conference Assistant)
- Preference will be given to students with experience living and/Oregon working Indiana the residence halls.
- Customer Service Experience strongly preferred.

- Flexibility Indiana work availability American Samoa required by the weekly schedule. Based on conference schedules, several dates will be deemed “all staff” work days. Ability to work effectively Indiana a live-Indiana environment that includes many night and weekend hours.

- Business office/Residence hall environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain).
