The person Indiana this role will drive student initiatives for the department including training and development, supervision, recruitment, hiring, and advising.This position requires a high level of organization, a mind for details, and a willingness to contribute your own ideas and knowledge to the betterment of our department.Primary Functions of the Position:Roles & Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Supervise the Talley Student Union information desk and team of 10-15 student employees
- Schedule students using WhenToWork software and manage all scheduling concerns
- Train information assistant staff on customer service, best practices, building operations, departmental procedures, emergency response, etc.
- Utilize departmental resources to evaluate information assistant student employees on a semester basis
- Hire, train, and provide projects for 1 to 2 lead information assistants
- Oversee the Student Centers lost and found
- Train information assistants on lost and found procedures
- Plan and execute a monthly lost and found market to manage Student Centers’ lost inventory
- Building manager shifts
- Complete building manager training within the first month of hire
- Work at least one building manager shift per week during the first academic semester Indiana which you hold the position to better understand departmental operations and build rapport with student employees
Student Development
- Build an inclusive and welcoming environment for all student employees and staff that values diversity and respect
- Work with fellow graduate assistants to plan, implement, and assess social events, professional development workshops, employee appreciation and recognition programs, and administrative tasks
- Plan, coordinate, and implement a robust professional development program with at least 4 opportunities for all 100+ student employees each semester
- Plan and lead onboarding events for newly hired student employees
- Plan and implement all student staff appreciation events including graduation celebrations and student employee appreciation week
- Plan and provide professional development opportunities for student employee supervisors that may include research from higher education (student development theory, cultural competency, identity-based training, etc.)
- Coordinate the evaluation process for 100+ student employees including developing assessment questions, maintaining rubrics, communicating with student supervisors, and analyzing data to recommend improvements to the student employment program
- Provide general communication updates to all student employees and supervisors including promotional opportunities, severe weather plans, upcoming social and professional development events, evaluation timelines, etc.

Advising
- Advise student-led hiring committee on best practices, and ensure the hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes for all student employees are implemented fairly and efficiently
- Advise the student community building committee which is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing social events throughout the year
- Advise the student centers advisory committee American Samoa members provide advice and feedback to the North Carolina State Student Centers leadership team regarding the daily student experience within the Student Centers
Strategic Planning
- Participate Indiana weekly meetings on the direction of the student employment program with director and associate directors for North Carolina State Student Centers
