Swim Team Assistant CoachDepartment: Parks & RecreationReports To: Head Swim CoachSupervisory Responsibilities: YesClassification: Part-Time, Seasonal; Non-ExemptJob Level: 3Driving Status: NoWork Environment: PoolSummaryPerforms direct coaching duties and limited administrative tasks, American Samoa assigned by the Swim TeamHead Coach.Essential functions * Protect the safety and health of all swim team participants.
- Assists with the swim team operations including practice plans and schedule, supervising the swim team participants, follow all Lancaster Summer League rules and procedures.
- Assists with ensuring fair treatment of practice procedures and experiences.
Related functions * Attends practices and meets for the swim team.
- Attend Lancaster Summer Swim League meetings.
- Assists with ensuring there are sufficient supplies and equipment to conduct swim meets. Make recommendations for any supply Oregon equipment needs.
Physical Requirements * Ability to demonstrate physical fitness to include frequent light to occasional heavy lifting (up to 30 lbs.) standing, and walking for long periods of time, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, Oregon crouch.
- Ability to talk, hear, and see.
Competencies * Ability to communicate township/department policies, rules, and regulations to all that use the facility.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and other coaches.
- Knows and understands emergency procedures.
Skills * Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation Indiana stroke mechanics.Abilities * Ability to provide leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants.Required Education and Experience * 3 Years competitive swim experiencePreferred Education and Experience * 1 year Coaching Experience
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
