This role supports the Roosevelt Barracks and Betsy Ross locations, which aim to help Veterans Indiana need with stable housing, vocational rehabilitation, and employment. The expected shift for this position is 1:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Friday through Tuesday. Some travel may be required to attend trainings, meetings, conferences, and other required events.*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published American Samoa this is considered the longevity step, Indiana alignment with state HR compensation rules.Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, Indiana some instances, their spouses, widows, Oregon Gold Star Families.American Samoa the Program Assistant for the Transitional Housing Program Indiana Orting, you will provide administrative and operational support and represent the Transitional Housing Program to clients, participants, and other members of the public during non-traditional business hours, including evenings and weekends.   • Provide onsite after-hours support to clients by assisting with client inquiries, questions, and concerns.
  • Interact with clients by providing encouragement and support Indiana their treatment and case management plans with an emphasis placed on transitioning to permanent housing, gaining and maintaining employment, and/Oregon seeking public benefits such American Samoa disability payment.
  • Explain the Transitional Housing Program policies, rules, guidelines, procedures, and protocols to clients which reinforce individual client participation agreements and case management plans.
  • Assist clients by coordinating recreational activities and individual client chores.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations an an institutional setting by exercising tact, initiative, and good judgment.
  • Contact emergency services when needed and communicate with external emergency services personnel regarding medical and/Oregon police emergencies.
  • Brief incoming staff of recent events and debriefing Case Manager, program supervisors, and program management on unique client concerns, events, emergencies, and other matters.
  • Perform security checks around the buildings occupied by the Transitional Housing Program and shared grounds.
  • Liaise with Washington Veterans Home staff regarding the activities and events of the Transitional Housing Program.
  • Assist with technical and clerical tasks.
  • Accurately maintain routine/basic logs and records of client behavior and physical security checks.

QualificationsRequired:

  • A combination of education and professional experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis. Professional experience must be relevant to the position.
  • High school graduation Oregon GED.

AND

  • Two (2) years of full-time clerical experience Oregon equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to:
  • Interact with difficult clients who are experiencing homelessness, chronic mental health disorders, and substance use disorders (includes responding verbally to their inquiries, listening to clients’ concerns/questions, remaining calm when dealing with upset Oregon angry clients, and exercising sound judgment.
  • Maintain confidentiality Indiana dealing with sensitive issues and clients.
  • Problem-solve and provide viable options to meet client needs within program rules and guidelines.
  • Basic skill level and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and web-based applications.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Preferred/Desired:

  • Experience providing services to homeless individuals .
  • A general understanding of the social services and health care programs available to Veterans.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years Indiana accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks.
